Welcome to this week’s edition of the Brush Up on AI newsletter

....your go-to spot for practical tips, fresh ideas, and must-know updates on how AI is transforming the dental world (and beyond).

📝 From Laura’s Desk

Last week, I had the honor of speaking at the WRDE Conference in Arizona, where I presented on some of my go-to topics: hiring and time management. These are subjects I’ve spoken on for years—but this time, something felt different.

Thanks to AI, these foundational topics are getting a fresh perspective. What used to be routine conversations now feel exciting, relevant, and filled with new possibility.

AI isn’t just a tech trend—it’s reshaping how we build teams, manage time, and lead our practices more effectively.

So this week, I’ll be sharing a few practical takeaways from my sessions, along with how AI can elevate what you’re already doing. Whether you're hiring your next rockstar or trying to reclaim lost time in your day, there's never been a better moment to level up—with help from AI. 🚀

🦷 This Week in Dental Innovation

AI Innovations from IDS 2025: Transforming Digital Dentistry

Last week at IDS 2025 in Cologne, Germany, artificial intelligence (AI) took center stage as dental companies unveiled groundbreaking technologies designed to enhance diagnostics, streamline workflows, and improve patient care. Here are the highlights:

1. DeepCare's Multimodal Dental AI Agent
DeepCare debuted its Multimodal Dental AI Agent, capable of processing six imaging modalities (e.g., panoramic X-rays, CBCT scans) to detect nearly 40 dental conditions. This system integrates AI-assisted diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient consultation. It also features contextual reasoning based on historical data and clinical guidelines, offering tailored recommendations for patients. Enhanced CBCT AI capabilities now support cranium segmentation and reconstruction for precise diagnostics.

2. Atomica.AI's Handheld Robotic Drill
Atomica.AI introduced the world’s first handheld robotic drill for dental implants, combining robotic precision with AI-powered planning in a compact format. This device provides sub-millimeter accuracy during implant placement while maintaining tactile control for clinicians. Atomica also showcased updates to its cloud CAD platform, including AI-driven smile design tools and printable veneers.

3. Dexis Software and Hardware Enhancements
Dexis unveiled new AI-powered features in its DTX Studio Clinic software, such as automated implant position calculations and 3D visualizations for endodontic procedures. The company also previewed its upcoming "Imprevo" intraoral scanner, which promises faster scanning speeds and advanced image processing powered by AI algorithms.

4. Medit & Pearl Partnership
Medit partnered with Pearl to integrate AI diagnostics into its Medit Link platform. This collaboration enhances intraoral scanning accuracy while providing real-time patient consultations powered by AI-driven insights. Medit also launched solutions tailored for orthodontics and implant workflows.

💡 Ai Tip of the Week:

Smarter Hiring Starts with Smarter Prompts

Writing a compelling job description or ad can be time-consuming—but AI can make it faster and more effective. All it takes is the right prompt.

Here’s how to get started with ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini:

📌 Prompt Example for a Job Description:
"Write a job description for a front desk coordinator in a dental office. Emphasize customer service, scheduling, and attention to detail. Keep it professional and engaging."

📌 Prompt Example for a Job Ad:
"Create a job posting for social media to attract dental assistants. Make it upbeat and highlight a positive team culture, benefits, and opportunities for growth."

👉 Try it out and tweak the results to reflect your practice’s unique vibe—then hit publish! Let AI handle the first draft so you can focus on finding the right fit.

💬 Team Talk Starter

Let’s Talk AI & Team Support

As we all know, hiring is tough right now, and many dental teams are stretched thin. If your office is feeling the pressure, this is the perfect time to open up a conversation with your team about AI—not as a replacement, but as a support system.

Here’s how to frame the conversation in your next team meeting or huddle:

🗣️ "I know we’re all juggling a lot right now, and I appreciate how much each of you is doing. As we continue looking for the right new hires, I also want to explore tools that can help lighten the load in the meantime. AI isn’t here to take over your role—it’s here to help make your job easier, faster, and more focused on what matters most: our patients."

Encourage your team to share:

  • What tasks feel repetitive or time-consuming?

  • Where could they use more support during busy times?

  • Would they be open to testing a tool that automates reminders, call follow-ups, or insurance verifications?

✅ Bonus Tip: Involve your team in the hiring process and in identifying how AI could help them right now—it builds trust, reduces resistance, and makes them feel part of the solution.

The goal? Empower your team to work smarter, not harder. AI can help—when everyone’s on board. 🚀
